End of season 5, EkerSvarvarnas first season, and it's time to take a quick look at what we have accomplished.
Our long term goals were: be on the swedish top 10, be on the total top 100, to have one rider on the swedish top 10 and finally to have one rider on the international top 100. Ranked as second team in Sweden and 27th in the world is far better than we even hoped for. We have also had one or two riders on the swedish top 10, even if we don't have one there right now if we don't count our former rider Oluf Höijer in seventh place. Getting a rider on the international top 100 has been much more difficult, for the moment Oluf Höijer is ranked 182 and our best present rider Pierce Grasier is ranked 226, but that ranking he earned before joining EkerSvarvarna. Three of our four long term goals are in other words reached.
The season has been much more successful than we had hoped for. This doesn't mean that we are satisfied in all aspects. The advancement to the top division has shown that the team is not quite competitive when riding against top opposition. The upcoming season will therefore be concentrated on sharpening the teams climbing abilities. The newly signed contract with the english former Cway-rider Andrew Herniman is the first and main step in that direction. He will be our team captain together with Andreas Sundström. He will most likely make his debut in Alpe d'Huez, as our captain.
During the season we have also signed long-term contracts with 24 years old Pierce Grasier from Scotland and team Medvedi, and also 24 years old Hubert Knaggs from England, team Rabobank and before that he came from team Smith. We see them as important parts of building a successful team for years to come.
In short, a successful season but a season that has shown us our shortcomings and things we have to work on to become the successful team we want to be.
EkerSvarvarna was started during the season and we still have over a week to go before we can summerize a full season, so another press release can be expected then.

See you at the big mountain. Andrew will do well going up but you will need to find him some help on the other side.
